STD Awareness Week

Happy STD Awareness Week

Did you know that the CDC estimates that there are approximately 20 million new STD infections every year? In honor of STD Awareness Week from April 10-16, 2022, we encourage you to protect your health and get tested for STDs and HIV.

Do you know your status?

STDs are a tough subject for many people to talk about because of the stigma and fear associated with them. By raising awareness about STDs, we can better understand how they are prevented and treated. In fact, most STDs are treatable, if not curable. Here are a few reasons everyone should get tested for STDs:

  • Not all STDs have symptoms.
  • The sooner you get tested, the sooner you get treated.
  • Untreated STDs can cause major health complications.
  • To protect yourself and your sexual partners.

I have an STD, now what?

If you have tested positive for an STD, it’s important to begin treatment as soon as possible and to remember that they are more common than you may think. Although telling people about your STD status may be uncomfortable, it is important to let your sexual partners know so they can get tested. At Spectrum Medical, we offer STD testing in-office and free STI home test kits at community events across the Greater Phoenix area.
