A Doctor with a Passion for Inclusive Healthcare
Spectrum Medical’s journey began when Dr. Thanes Vanig, our Chief Medical Officer, noticed a critical gap in healthcare – a shortage of HIV doctors. Driven by his passion for providing specialized care and creating a safe place for people of all backgrounds, he founded Spectrum Medical in 1997.
In 2016, Spectrum Medical joined the City of Phoenix Fast-Track Cities Initiative, a global initiative aimed at ending new cases of HIV by 2030. As part of this effort, we provide treatment and support to those living with HIV and strive to prevent new infections through education and access to services like PrEP and PEP.

Beyond specialized care, we offer primary care services to empower patients to achieve their best health. As a nonprofit organization, our community outreach program,, provides healthcare services at events across Maricopa County, including primary care, HIV/STI testing, PrEP, PEP, sexual health education, and preventative care.
