Spectrum to Deliver Life-changing Healthcare Service at Latino Pride Festival

Phoenix, Ariz.–Sept. 15, 2023–Spectrum Medical Care Center is a robust medical practice offering primary care and preventative treatments for the LGBTQ+ community. Starting this month, Spectrum announces the launch of its “PrEPmobile” to add Mobile PrEP services as an extension of its Mobile Clinic. PrEP is a powerful protector of health as an HIV prevention tool when taken correctly and for the first time ever, consultation with a healthcare provider is available on-the-go with Spectrum Mobile PrEP. The service makes its debut at the upcoming Spectrum-sponsored Latino Pride Festival on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Heritage Square Park, 113 North 6th Street Phoenix, AZ 85004.

“We will seize every moment of the Latino Pride Festival to educate attendees about the peace of mind that comes from treatments like PrEP and about other important health-related information,” said Victor Avila, Director of Community Relations, Spectrum Medical Care Center. “The day is also one of celebration and we look forward to sharing it with so many others dedicated to the wellness of our community.”

“We believe in a future without HIV, which starts by normalizing HIV testing among everyone but especially among populations who are disproportionately impacted by the virus,” said Dr. Jose Rodriguez, Medical Director, Spectrum Medical Care Center. Once people know their status, decisions about appropriate treatments, including PrEP, can be made more easily by patients. Now with Mobile PrEP, treatment can start the same day.”

PrEP “preloads” the body with antiretrovirals, the same medicines used to treat HIV. By taking PrEP daily before potential exposure, the body blocks the virus from replicating, thus stopping infection.

The Latino Pride Festival occurs during Hispanic Heritage Month and purposely on Mexican Independence Day, September 16 (16 de septiembre). As an extra recognition of the cultural gifts from this thriving community, this year, Spectrum Medical Care Center created custom Spectrum Lotería Cards. This limited-edition merchandise item will be given to the first 500 people that stop by the Spectrum PrEPmobile. There are five cards and each shares an important health message inspired by the iconic Mexican folk art which makes these cards so popular. The complete set of Spectrum Lotería Cards can be seen by clicking this LINK and includes: getting tested (La Prueba), the importance of having a provider who is welcoming and qualified (El Doctorcito), PrEP treatment as a means of managing viral loads (El PrEP), being mindful of general wellness (La Salud) and seeking a clinic that is on the cutting edge of healthcare (La Clínica).
